Diorama's "Her liquid arms" album both excited me and surprised me. First of all, the album doesn't sound at all like their previous and only release "Pale". In the present album Diorama have developed a more electronic sound leaving behind many gothic elements which played a dominant role in their debut album. Moreover, Adrian Hates (mastermind of Diary of Dreams) isn't responsible for the production this time, as before, but Torben Wendt and Felix Marc(present Diorama) are. The album as a whole is very melodic and can easily be listened to from beginning to end. It can also be divided into two parts, the first consisting of songs with many electro influences, synth parts and fast beats (not fast enough though to characterize it as dance or EBM) and the second consisting of more atmospheric songs at a slower tempo which one could say are the development of "Pale's" style. There is even a song in the album with only vocals and grand piano (das meer). The lyrics of the album are quite pessimistic and the artwork of it is brilliant. Overall, I believe that with "her liquid arms" Diorama have released a great album that will satisfy the majority of its buyers and will be listened to for quite a long time to come. Best moments of the album: "advance", "light" and the introduction of "h.l.a" song.
