The cello rockin' chicks return once again with Frustration Plantation, for those that pick it up soon it's a double disc set with b-sides and remixes as a limited edition bonus. The album is overall just fantastic, the girls are on-target with this release. While the album as a whole is really just a continuation of what they were doing before it's more successfully executed. Rasputina iare known for their rock n' roll style played on cellos, their eccentric 19th century costumes and of course my favorite part, theor wicked and bizarre sense of humor. Tracks like Wicked Dickey and My Captivity by Savages prove this point as well as show how magnificent the band truly is in their storytelling capabilities. As with other Rasputina albums this one is next to impossible to attach to a specific genre. Is it goth? Kinda. Is it folky? Kinda. But it's all just rock n' roll, really. Once again the ladies also bring some real rock on the album (Possum of the Grotto) as well as some sadness and drama (Oh Injury). If you enjoyed Rasputina in the past you'll love this, if you haven't heard Rasputina definitely check it. However, if you heard Rasputina before and didn't like it, you probably won't like this one either.
