...I will never forget the moment when you looked into my eyes.
When i touched your skin for the first time i felt heaven in my hands...
I never thought that Blutengel would ever surpass their previous releases (Child of Glass, Seelenscmerz und Angeldust). I was wrong. Blutengel combining the aggression of Child on Glass, the lyricism of Seelenscmerz and the dark romanticism of Angeldust, but also adding new elements and ideas to their music, they take their sound some further making progress. Demon Kiss in my opinion is their best album by far, since it has no weak moments, sounding more complicated and varieful, romantic and melancholic yet so dark and vampiric. Christian Chris Pohl and his dark mistresses return better (and not only just look at the pictures, pure dark/vampiric aesthetic) than ever and ready to conquer the German scene (and not only) with 15 songs of absolute greatness.
The sequencerʼs effects, the at times imposing and groovy whilst at others soft and rhythmic beat, the wonderful keyboard melodies and the painfully sweet-sounding piano pieces along with the deeply emotional and esoteric lyrics perform the absolute Blutengel manifest. Chris Pohlʼs cold imposing, yet so expressive (giving meaning to every single word!) and full of emotions, voice harmonizes beautifully with Constance Rudert (enchanting beauty!) and Eva Poelzingʼs ethereal passionate voices evoking a banquet of emotions.
In one hand Angels of the Dark (masterpiece!), Forever (oh my goth!), Solitary Angel (wow!), In the Distance, Lovekiller (killer!), Navigator (great!) and Go to Hell? (just perfect!) will keep on filling the dancefloors with their danceable rhythm and wonderful and inspiry melodies for a long time leading the Blut fans (and not only) to an infinite dance.
On the other hand Silent Tears (For You), Senseless Life, Stay, Ice Angel, Ressurection, Frozen Heart (a monumental song!), In my Dreams (a real opus! A really esoteric and touching song [both musically and lyrically]) and Verzweiflug with their fragile keyboard melodies and heart-rending piano pieces will take you through utterly emotional and esoteric soundscapes to imaginary dreamscapes filled with fragile emotions.
Demon Kiss was released in 3 editions : The LP edition including only the album, the digi-pack Limited Edition 1 including the album and the 5-track mini-cd Fire and the box-set Limited Edition 2 (limited to 2000 copies) containing the album, the 5-track mini-cds Fire and Ice and a big-size 24-page booklet including lyrics and pictures of the band.
The Fire mini-cd contains Demon Kiss which is an instrumental composition, the danceable, wonderfully-sounding and lyrically thoughtful Second Chance, the groovy and also also danceable Falsher Stolz, the imposingly depressive Ohne Dich and the groovy and danceable, but also emotionally charged, Kingdom.
The Ice mini-cd contains the Intro of their concerts in 2003, Mistress of the Club which is a good groovy song, a really interesting schizophrenia remix of Forever by Buried Alive, the dreamy and full of emotions acoustic version of the masterpiece Die with You and the extraordinairy video clip of Vampire Romance Part I.
...So i try to close my eyes and iʼm dreaming me away.
In my dreams you hold me tight, in my dreams youʼre always near.
I never want to wake up again, donʼt want to face reality.
Youʼre so far away from me, but youwill always be in my dreams.
In my dreams.
In my dreams...
