Placebo - Placebo Once More With Feeling Videos 1996-2004

Genres: Alternative
Released: 2004
Label: EMI
Full Size

This is a DVD.

DESCRIPTION: A DVD collection of Placebo's most popular singles videos (and a newie) from 1996 to 2004.

INCLUDES: There are a couple of versions of English Summer Rain and look out for the second Nancy Boy video. Plus there are a couple of live tracks including 20th Century boy with Bowie and Soulmates never die live in Paris. As well as all their earlier singles.

EXTRA ADDITIONAL: There is about a 20min interview with the whole band....first in studio and together in pub type scene. Steve Hewitt has some amusing stories to tell. And the usually quiet Stefan opens his story book as well.

OVERALL: I guess you can call this DVD a "best of so far" but it is more akin to a 'changes' album, showing the bands incarnations and growth and a sign of things to come. Brian is looking decidedly more relaxed (and i love his new hair style..though he looks great in anything). The new single Twenty Years is still very Placebo (well der), but again a more matured and comfortable song (less obviously angsty). For me it is a song that will run over and over in my mind, like someone yelling, not in anger though, just getting it out. This song must be played loud and more than once.

SUMMARY: I love all Placebo's works so I am biased. However this collection is very neat and well sorted with some insites into the band. I think the title "Once more with feeling" rings true as one does feel a more personal approach has been taken in its development (not that their other albums weren't, however I felt as though i could touch them!). The new song Twenty Years perfectly ends the DVD not so much as an ending, rather a "look at what is to come".

Thanks Placebo. I can't wait till new album is released.
