Now this band produces what I cannot say about a lot of other darkwave bands out there: good music.
The music is well layered, but most importantly (and this is what I look for in the first minute) they have good tunes. The vocals are nice and dark - in most songs there is an echo to Karin's voice, which makes it more dreamy.
They develop soundscapes and a sense of their own atmosphere rather than music with a defined plan : intro, verse, chorus, verse blah blah blah. Sometimes there isn't much said in the lyrics, but the melodies carry you on a little dark journey; apocalypic and haunting.
Best yet,the sound is stereophonic. Unlike some other darkwave bands which produce flat strings of sounds here and there throughout the song, this music runs through your nerves and flows in your blood.
Let me speak on a personal level now. I was getting tired of musicians having a good melody then just completely ruining the song with either vocals or the effects they try to throw in that really sound like a food processor. When I listened Collide 's song "Wings Of Steel" I couldn't help but put the volume to the max, press the headphones close to my ears and try and absorb every bit of the song.Though the lyrics are simple, but it was the kind of song that I was looking for a long time to find, something to listen to alone past midnight.
Thus,I recommend (actually highly recommend) this album. As I mentioned, listen to "Wings Of Steel" first and get hooked.
