Itʼs autumn and weʼve already left the summer days behind, hidden somewhere in the back of our head. Sometimes we can forgive but we never really forgetand these Sunless Days become shelter for all those who secretly searching for a sunshine that never comes. Beseech formed in Sweden the 1992 and thatʼs their fifth album. I can describe them only as a big band worth your money and your time. Forget all the cheap-kitsch bands roaming the scene and prepare yourselves to meet the leaders of the specific genre. Only true leaders can combine successfully their gothic metal influences of bands like Tiamat, Type O Negative, Paradise Lost, and Lacuna Coil with the sound, atmosphere and attitude of groups like Pain of Salvation. Goth metal is meeting progressive and Beseech are walking on dangerous ground but with style and attention on important details which finally make the difference. Infectious melodies, brilliant memorable songs (among them a very good cover of Danzigʼs Devilʼs Plaything), gothic anthems, sentimental piano parts, thick guitar sound and one of the most successful use of keyboards I heard lately. Two very good singers male and female are sharing the vocal melodies and complement each other perfectly (this is not the usual brutal- soprano vocals combination). Erik Molarin is reminding me of Peter Steele and Lotta Hoglin singers like Anneke van Giersbergen. She shines on the piano ballad Lost. Discover Beseech now or live forever in ignorance.
