The synthetic dream foundation has a brand new album out, entitled "Behind the gates of horn and ivory", and I believe this album represents the strongest material that the band has released to date. I have always been a big fan of this project's work, but there is a level of growth on this cd that I really was not prepared for. For one thing, the production on the albums greatly exceeds anything they have done before. While TSDF has always written beautiful industrial/ebm music, the sound quality often lacked in comparison to people at the top of the scene. This album completely corrects that, if not make them surpass many of the scene's elite.
One of the really stalwart elements that make this album stand out, are the orchestral elements mixed in with their signature electronics. The full choir in tracks like, "they who breathe darkness" takes my breath away. The album also has much more aggressive vocals in the songs, compared to the guest women vocalists of their last album. As a whole, I would say this is the best album I have come across this year, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for some progressive and beautiful ebm.
