About

About Gothic.gr
Gothic.gr is a community site/e-zine, covering the alternative music scene since early 2001. You can find the most accurate and up to date information about clubs in greece, special events and parties. Most djs and teams who organize such events, are already members of Gothic.gr, and help us inform you about all activities occuring in our society.

Of course there are countless other sections to explore as well. Art, wallpapers, flyers, articles (music and movie reviews), and all the latest scene news. Feel free to participate actively in our community, by becoming a member, and submitting information and articles, or simply by joining other people and talking about the things you like, in our message boards, or our chat service.

Gothic.gr is a non profit endeavor, an ever evolving living organism, our breath of life is everyone willing to contribute, and our visitors. Yes that's YOU. We are what the community makes us to be. So don't just bitch, apply to join our team, edit your public member profile, and start expressing yourself.
Technical details
Gothic.gr is designed to run and render properly on all modern browsers. It has been tested with: Firefox 2.x, IE 7, Opera 9.x and IE 6 (although IE 6 is not a modern browser, and i would avoid it if i were you).

With that said we recommend you install the latest version of Firefox, in our humble opinion it's the best browser right now.

Running your system at a minimum resolution of 1024x768 pixels and 32-bit color is also recommended. In fact Gothic.gr will not fit if you run at 800x600 anymore. But hey, the year is 2010 last time we checked!

Codewise, Gothic.gr is not based on any CMS (Content Management System) application (such as phpnuke, postnuke, phpbb, mambo, et al). Those are fine and dandy if you're not a programmer or if you don't want to bother much, but if you want total control, then...it's time to fire up your favourite text editor at your nearest shell lads! So, don't ask. Don't guess. Don't despair.

Below you can view a couple of screenshots of the Linux box used in the making of the site. Everyone else is doing it so why can't i?

Really old snapshot, kept for historical purposes: Circa 2000! This is the Enlightenment window manager for linux. Ah, it ruled. The old site was developed on this box.
Fast forward to present day and time. Now using a gnome / compiz combo, and amarok instead of xmms.
This is the compiz cube, with emulated Windows XP on one face (left), for when photoshop is needed. 4 gb of ram really comes in handy...
